3D CNC Tube Laser Cutting Services

Heavy-Duty Tube, Pipe & Structural Steel Cutting in Southwest Iowa

For OEM manufacturers and structural steel shops across the Midwest.

Red Oak Fabrication provides multi-axis 3D and 2D CNC tube laser cutting services. Using our Bystronic M3 FL300 heavy-duty laser system, we process large round tubing, square and rectangular structural section, and open structural profiles. Our 3D laser head creates self-fixturing joints, tab-and-slot designs, and weld prep in one pass — so you skip downstream sawing, drilling, and coping.

Equipment & Technology Specs

Our Bystronic M3 FL300 is set up for steady, automated runs on heavy-wall pipe and structural profiles. Bundle loaders and automated chain feeders keep it running unattended, while a triple-chuck drive prevents sag and chatter across long lengths.

Supported Geometries & Structural Profiles

Our machine handles far more than closed shapes. Unlike standard 2D tube cutters restricted to symmetrical closed shapes, our Bystronic M3 FL300 also cuts complex open structural shapes. Closed profiles include round tube and pipe, square HSS tubing, and rectangular HSS tubing, while open shapes include C-channel, L-angle iron, and U-profiles. Custom extrusions include oval, elliptical, and special OEM shapes.

Advanced Quality

Cutting raw tubing brings challenges. These include surface deformities, material bow, and internal seam interference. The Bystronic M3 FL300 solves them with three built-in sensor systems.

1. Optical Weld Seam Detection

Raw welded tubing contains internal seam ridges. These ridges can hurt cut quality or weaken later joints. Our high-speed camera system locates and tracks the weld seam, then rotates the cutting path so critical features avoid the seam line.

2. Real-Time LaserScan Compensation

Mill-supplied tubing often shows slight bow, twist, or size drift. The LaserScan system scans the profile geometry before cutting, then adjusts the 3D laser torch path to compensate for warping.

3. QuickCut High-Speed Processing

For thin-to-medium wall thickness, QuickCut speeds up head motion and axis timing. This maximizes feed rates while it maintains linear accuracy.

Cost Reduction Benefits

Old-school steel work needs many extra steps. We combine these steps into a single laser tube cutting program. This sharply cuts lead times and labor. Precise 3D miter and saddle cuts remove manual joint grinding. The laser also cuts bolt holes, slots, and flow-drill locations in seconds. Self Fixturing Tab-and-Slot Joints let parts interlock, which reduces weld fixture needs.
