Mudslayer Manufacturing, based in Guthrie Center, Iowa, manufactures specialized equipment designed to assist drilling rigs with water containment and the removal of mud and drilling debris.
In 2018, Mudslayer approached Red Oak Fabrication looking for a better way to manufacture its equipment. At the time, Mudslayer was working with another Iowa fabrication shop, but that supplier could not provide the complete range of manufacturing services needed to produce a finished machine.
As a result, Mudslayer was forced to coordinate with multiple fabrication vendors to complete different stages of the manufacturing process before the equipment could be assembled and delivered to its customers.

Managing multiple fabrication suppliers created additional complexity for Mudslayer. Different portions of the product had to move between multiple shops before the final assembly could take place.
Mudslayer needed a manufacturing partner that could handle the entire process—from engineering and raw material through fabrication, finishing and delivery—while maintaining consistency and quality throughout the project.
The opportunity was to create a single, reliable manufacturing solution that would allow Mudslayer to focus on what it does best: final assembly and delivering its equipment to drilling customers.
Red Oak Fabrication developed a turnkey manufacturing solution for Mudslayer. Rather than having Mudslayer coordinate multiple suppliers, ROF took responsibility for 100% of Mudslayer’s manufacturing process.
ROF manages the entire production cycle, beginning with engineering and continuing through material processing, fabrication, welding, blasting, powder coating, assembly preparation and delivery.
The finished components are delivered directly to Mudslayer’s facility, ready for final assembly. This allows Mudslayer to receive its manufactured components at its doorstep and immediately move into final assembly and customer delivery.
As the relationship developed, ROF’s role expanded alongside Mudslayer’s business. What began in 2018 with the manufacturing of a single equipment offering has grown to support five different machine offerings.
Red Oak Fabrication provides Mudslayer with a complete, vertically integrated manufacturing solution, including:
By bringing these capabilities under one roof, ROF eliminates the need for Mudslayer to coordinate multiple outside fabrication suppliers.
The partnership between Mudslayer Manufacturing and Red Oak Fabrication has grown significantly since 2018.
What started as the manufacturing of one Mudslayer machine offering has grown to five different machine offerings, with Red Oak Fabrication now responsible for 100% of Mudslayer’s manufacturing.
Most significantly, Mudslayer has grown its annual production output by approximately 4X since partnering with ROF.
The turnkey manufacturing model has allowed Mudslayer to scale production while maintaining a simple workflow: ROF manufactures and delivers the finished components, Mudslayer performs final assembly and delivers the completed equipment to its customer.
| Operational Parameter | Baseline (Pre-ROF) | Red Oak Turnkey Solution | Strategic Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary Vendors Managed | Multiple fabrication shops | 1 dedicated partner (Red Oak) | Streamlined supply chain |
| Manufacturing Scope | Segmented / fragmented | 100% full production cycle | Zero inter-facility transit lag |
| Supported Machine Models | 1 initial offering | 5 equipment offerings | 5X model diversification |
| Production Output (Annually) | Baseline (2018) | 4X increase | Scaled throughput |
The growth of the Mudslayer–ROF partnership provides a measurable example of the value of a turnkey manufacturing relationship:
The relationship demonstrates how Red Oak Fabrication can become an extension of a customer’s manufacturing operation—providing the engineering, fabrication and finishing capabilities necessary to take a product from concept and raw material to a finished, delivery-ready product.
Mudslayer gets a finished manufacturing solution delivered to its doorstep, allowing its team to focus on final assembly and getting equipment into the hands of its customers.
